While Brian Roberts brings a whole host of assets to the table when it comes to your legal issues, experience certainly does top the list. Prior to becoming a Houston criminal defense attorney, Brian was an Assistant District Attorney for Harris County serving in the Special Crimes Bureau – Major Fraud Division. While in this position, Brian was responsible for the investigation and prosecution of everything from financial and white collar crimes to organized crime cases involving different types of fraud as well as money laundering. Brian was the first prosecutor in Harris County to prosecute the owner/operator of an Asian organized prostitution operation for money laundering for which the Defendant was sentenced to fourteen years in prison. Brian interned for the staff of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Texas and worked a stock fraud case with them.
Brian's criminal defense experiences actually extend beyond the national borders of the United States. He participated in the proceedings of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. Specifically, Brian was a member of the defense team for the former president of what was known as the Republic of Serbia – Autonomous Region of Krajina Crisis Staff. Additionally, Brian was active in the American Bar Association – Central & Eastern European Legal Initiative.
Because of the unique roles he played in the criminal justice system, Brian provides incomparably effective representation not to only clients charged with white collar crimes but also people facing all types of criminal charges.
Brian received his legal education at the South Texas College of Law, graduating in the top 13% of his class. He also participated in an abroad legal studies program at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He received numerous awards during his time in law school. Brian received an MBA from the University of Phoenix and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas, obtaining a degree in Communications.
In representing clients charged with crimes, Brian has come to understand that his other professional experiences have proven extremely beneficial in these endeavors. For example, prior to taking up a career as a criminal lawyer, Brian was a stock broker for a major brokerage firm.
Fluent in Serbo-Croatian and conversant in Spanish, Brian appreciates that people who find themselves facing criminal charges literally come from all walks of life. Brian is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and a former member of the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association.
